SWCorp Kedah implemented the 10th series of the Community Service Order (CSO) in Sungai Petani, involving individuals convicted of littering offences in public places under the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Act 2007 (Act 672).
The implementation involved 13 Malaysian offenders, who carried out their Community Service Orders under the supervision of SWCorp enforcement officers acting as authorised officers in accordance with the provisions of the Act.
Throughout the programme, the offenders carried out various community service activities, including sweeping and litter collection at public areas around Dataran Menara Jam Besar and the Jalan Padang Food Court in Sungai Petani.
This marked the 10th implementation of the Community Service Order since the mechanism came into effect on 1 January 2026. The initiative forms part of SWCorp’s enforcement approach, which places greater emphasis on education and behavioural change to foster a stronger sense of responsibility towards maintaining public cleanliness.
SWCorp will continue to strengthen the implementation of the Community Service Order as an effective enforcement mechanism to improve compliance with public cleanliness laws while supporting the aspiration for a cleaner, greener, and more prosperous Malaysia.
