Strategic Memorandum Of Understanding Strengthens Construction Solid Waste Management

Strategic Memorandum Of Understanding Strengthens Construction Solid Waste Management

SWCorp continues to strengthen its role as the nation’s leading solid waste management agency through the signing of a Strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Empowering Construction Waste Management with six strategic industry partners. The collaboration aims to promote more sustainable and integrated construction waste management practices across the country.

The six strategic partners are the Malaysian Society for Occupational Safety and Health (MSOSH), the Environmental Management and Research Association of Malaysia (ENSEARCH), YTL Construction Sdn. Bhd., Sunway Property Sdn. Bhd., Sunway Construction Sdn. Bhd., and the Selangor Industrial Corporation (SIC).

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed on behalf of SWCorp by Ir. Zulkifli bin Tamby Chik, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Technical). The collaboration marks the beginning of a stronger partnership between the Government, industry players, professional bodies, and related organisations in advancing sustainable construction waste management in Malaysia.

The event also featured the presentation of the Construction Solid Waste Management Rating Award (PROBINA) 2025 by Mr. Hee Loy Sian, Chairman of SWCorp. YTL Construction Sdn. Bhd. was named the overall champion, followed by Sunway Construction Sdn. Bhd. as the first runner-up and Sunway Property Sdn. Bhd. in third place, in recognition of their outstanding commitment to construction waste management.

In conjunction with the programme, SWCorp, in collaboration with MSOSH and ENSEARCH, also organised the Sustainable Construction Forum under the theme “Health, Safety and Environment”, featuring five presentations by industry experts who shared best practices, challenges, and innovations in sustainable construction waste management.

The programme reflects SWCorp’s continued commitment to strengthening the construction waste management ecosystem through a more integrated, digital, and results-oriented approach. The initiative also supports the adoption of sustainable construction practices that contribute to environmental protection, public well-being, and the nation’s long-term sustainable development.
