PROGRAMME ON SEPARATION AT SOURCE (SAS), VALUE FOOD NO WASTE CAMPAIGN AND TRASH TO CASH

The Kuah Ramadan Bazaar was enlivened through the organisation of the Separation at Source (SAS) Programme, the Value Food No Waste Campaign, and Trash to Cash, jointly organised by the Langkawi Municipal Council Tourism City (MPLBP) and SWCorp Kedah.

The programme was implemented with the objective of increasing public awareness particularly among bazaar vendors and visitors of the importance of separating food waste at the source, preventing food wastage, and fostering recycling practices as part of daily routines.

A series of activities was conducted, including awareness briefings, on-site engagement sessions with traders and visitors, as well as the distribution of informative brochures to strengthen understanding of effective solid waste management practices.

This initiative is expected to cultivate a sense of shared responsibility towards environmental cleanliness while encouraging the adoption of a recycling culture within the community.

Overall, the programme reflects SWCorp and MPLBP’s continuous commitment to promoting sustainable solid waste management and fostering an environmentally responsible society in alignment with the nation’s sustainable development agenda.
