Since 2011, Garbage Man Day has been celebrated internationally on 17 June. The event aims to motivate, appreciate and recognise cleaning workers, who are categorised as workers in the field of 3D (Difficult, Dangerous and Dirty). Cleaning workers collect garbage, clean drains, sweep streets and cut grass.
This service is essential in the country. Therefore, SWCorp, as the pioneer in national cleanliness, has taken the initiative to appreciate these unsung heroes who work tirelessly to fulfill the responsibility of ensuring that Malaysia remains a clean, beautiful and prosperous country.
SWCorp has also adopted the theme Keringat Teringat-ingat for the Garbage Man Day celebration. Keringat (sweat) refers to work that requires human effort and energy beyond the normal level. Cleaning workers, categorised as workers in the field of 3D, must exert more strength and energy than normal, thus producing sweat. Therefore, teringat-ingat is a profound expression depicting something vivid that will linger in the mind.
Keringat Teringat-ingat represents the result of the effort and dedication poured out every day by cleaning workers, who work tirelessly to maintain a clean environment, always appreciated and remembered by the community. Their work is vital for the ease of the community’s daily life. Their contributions should always be remembered because without them, the community would not be able to enjoy a clean and comfortable environment.
