The Entrepreneurship and Sustainability Carnival (KKK) 2026 was successfully held at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) through a strategic collaboration between UniMAP and SWCorp. The carnival served as a platform to raise awareness and foster sustainable practices among university students and the local community.
The two-day programme attracted more than 3,000 visitors, comprising students, university staff, and members of the local community. The carnival focused on promoting the circular economy, green entrepreneurship, and sustainable solid waste management practices.
Throughout the carnival, a wide range of activities was organised, including agency exhibitions, used cooking oil collection programmes, Trash to Cash activities, and upcycling workshops featuring the production of aromatherapy candles from used cooking oil, as well as products made from plastic and textile waste. Various interactive activities and entrepreneurship showcases were also held to introduce participants to the waste-to-value concept and the economic potential of recyclable resources.
One of the programme highlights was the Sustainability Forum entitled “Turning Waste into Wealth: Who Says Waste Has No Value?”, which explored the potential of the circular economy and the role of the community in managing waste more responsibly. SWCorp was represented by Mr. Sahhir Kunju bin Abd. Karim, Director of the 3R Management Division, who shared insights on policies, challenges, and opportunities in advancing sustainable solid waste management in Malaysia.
This strategic collaboration with a higher education institution reflects SWCorp’s continued commitment to promoting a culture of sustainability, strengthening circular economy practices, and nurturing a generation that is more environmentally responsible and committed to sustainable waste management.
In line with the SWCorp Growth agenda, the initiative supports the development of a more sustainable, resilient, and knowledgeable community while contributing towards the aspiration for a cleaner, greener, and more prosperous Malaysia.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Ms. Ummi Kalthum binti Shuib, Director of SWCorp’s Finance Division, representing the Chief Executive Officer of SWCorp. Also present was Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Che Zulzikrami Azner bin Abidin, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Technology, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP).
