The Drone Unit, consisting of one drone and two flight controllers, was established on 22 March 2022, at every SWCorp State Office that adopted Act 672.
Drones are utilised to facilitate enforcement tasks under Act 672 and its regulations, in the following manner:
Advantages
- Easy to operate due to sensors that avoid obstacles, making control simple and suitable for all levels of operating skills;
- The drone’s flight time on a single charge duration is approximately 34 minutes, suitable for surveillance or raid operations;
- The drone operates within a 10 km radius, which is sufficient to ensure the safety of enforcement officers carrying out surveillance operations, as it will not be necessary for them to be close to the monitored location. In the event of a security threat, officers are able to abort the operation, clear up and leave the area;
- The drone is compact, weighing around 570 grammes, and its four propellers maybe folded, enabling it to be stored in a backpack. This facilitates the transportation of the drone to any location without requiring large logistics vehicles;
- Its high-quality camera resolution is 48MP for still images and 4K Ultra HD for video recording. This brilliant resolution ensures that images required for proof of violations are distinct.
