SWCorp successfully organised the KPKT Sentuhan Kasih Programme in conjunction with the Agro MADANI Sales Programme at Dataran Niaga, Taman Tenang, Labis, as part of its continuous efforts to strengthen public awareness of responsible solid waste management through a community-based approach.
The programme, organised through a strategic collaboration between the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), FAMA, SWCorp, and SWM Environment, was officiated by YB Datuk Hajah Aiman Athirah binti Sabu, Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government.
As an agency under KPKT, SWCorp continues to play a key role in ensuring that public spaces remain clean, particularly at high-traffic locations and major public events. The programme also served as a platform to educate the public on the importance of sustainable solid waste management while fostering a culture of cleanliness and environmental responsibility.
Among the programme highlights was the Jom Kitar, Jom Menang! competition, which successfully collected a total of 1,591 kilograms of recyclable materials, comprising 501.50 kilograms of used cooking oil, 864.25 kilograms of used textiles, and 225.25 kilograms of other recyclable materials. In addition, the P.E.T2Reward initiative recorded the collection of 115 PET bottles, reflecting encouraging public participation in recycling activities.
The programme also featured a Pocket Talk Session conducted by SWCorp to educate participants on the adverse effects of littering in public places and the importance of adopting responsible waste management practices beginning at home. The initiative reinforced the message that maintaining a clean environment is a shared responsibility of every member of society.
The programme demonstrated that a community-based approach is an effective way to strengthen public awareness of solid waste management and recycling practices while supporting the aspirations of Clean Johor 2030 and Malaysia MADANI towards a cleaner, greener, and more caring society.
Also present were Ms. Ummi Kalthum binti Shuib, Director of SWCorp’s Finance Division; Mr. Zainal Fitri bin Hj. Ahmad, Director of SWCorp Johor; as well as heads of departments from federal, state, and district agencies.
